We provide support and encouragement to you and help you provide the same to your cadet. As a support group, we have monthly meetings, publish a newsletter and put together care packages for our cadets. We have experienced members who can answer your questions. We understand what you are going through and we provide additional news about the Academy and the events and activities specific to each year of your cadet's Academy experience. We hold an Appointee Breakfast in the late Spring to help parents and cadets prepare for BCT and every 3 years we take a turn hosting the annual All-Military Ball at the holidays, to celebrate our cadets.
We are located in Washington and will help you connect with other Washington families. Also, we provide an opportunity to meet, work and speak directly with others at our monthly meetings. Our newsletter showcases OUR cadets and includes local information as well as notices about Academy events and activities. The AOG and FamNet are supplementary sources of assistance and information but they can’t replace the real presence of other people in PAWS.
What kind of worries do you have? The Parent's Handbook that the AOG sends out each year has a "Cadet Help" section which lists resources. The Academy Counseling Office has staff who can answer your questions or guide your inquiries. You will also find contact information for the Chaplains Office there. Keep in mind that cadets should handle their problems themselves, but family issues or concern for your cadet's physical or mental health may appropriately be your concern. The Squadron AOC can be contacted to find out what resources are available to you and/or your cadet. Phone numbers for the AOC of each squadron are listed in the back of the Parent Handbook. Remember that very limited personal information can be shared with parents if your cadet has not signed the appropriate forms to give you access.
